This course is designed to provide students and professionals with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the design, drafting, and coordination of MEP systems in buildings using industry-standard tools and engineering practices.
Key Objectives:

1. Mechanical (HVAC) System Design
• Understand HVAC principles and load calculations
• Design air conditioning systems, duct sizing, and airflow distribution
• Select appropriate equipment (AHUs, FCUs, chillers, VRF systems)
• Design ventilation and exhaust systems per ASHRAE/ISHRAE standards
2. Electrical System Design
• Perform load calculation and electrical distribution design
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD), panel schedules, and lighting layouts
• Design internal wiring, earthing, and lightning protection systems
• Apply standards like NEC, IEC, and NBC
3. Plumbing & Fire Fighting Design
• Design water supply, drainage, and sewage systems
• Calculate pipe sizes and pumping requirements
• Design firefighting systems (hydrants, sprinklers, pumps, tanks)
• Ensure code compliance with NFPA, IPC, and local standards
4. MEP Coordination & Layouts
• Understand cross-discipline coordination between HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Learn how to avoid clashes using software tools like AutoCAD and Revit MEP
• Develop coordinated MEP shop drawings
5. Software Tools
• Learn to use essential MEP design software such as:
â—¦ AutoCAD (for drafting)
â—¦ Revit MEP (for BIM modeling and coordination)
â—¦ HAP or Carrier E20 (for HVAC calculations)
â—¦ Dialux (for lighting design)
🎓 Course Outcome:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to design, draft, and coordinate complete MEP systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings as per international standards and project requirements.
